I'd say it was about Nick. The "you give me roses" part made it obvious. Then again, she didn't write the song so we can't know for sure.

I'll always wonder why Nelena broke up. Nick never seemed like the one to show affection so that could be a reason.

She 'woke up' and realised he was trying to change her.

I don't think it's about him because the song came out before he built her the rose garden.

But when she sung it live and changed the lyrics to "You built me roses but they were all just made of plastic" it was about him.

I always thought it was because she changed herself for him and she realized it and didn't like it. But I think he broke up w/ her. ...Twice.

I've noticed that. I think that's an attribute to why her albums still sale over a period of time. She'll get around 220k from the first single, but her second singles are always more catchier than the lead, which makes albums sales push her to 700k+. It's one of the only smart movies by HWR tbh.
