But it's not just about numbers. The best pop music captures moments in time and typifies movements. It's both immediate and timeless, like the best of Madonna's catalog. Few artists today will likely stand that test of time. (I'm talking to you, Katy Perry.)
Maybe radio wasn't playing her latest 2 singles, but radio (at least WW) was there for Hung Up & 4 Minutes (WW super-smashes). Something that no other 80s superstar has seen since early 90s.
Whitney and Michael have been on the radio in the 2000's
I particularly like their point about the other '80s artists. Many stopped challenging themselves and developing, but Madonna went on to make albums like Ray of Light and Music.
What I find funny is that if she is still the Queen of Pop, why do people have to keep reminding us? If she was the Queen of Pop, wouldn't it speak for itself?
Don't be ridiculous. Books have been written about Madonna being The Only Queen of Pop. This isn't surprising, though, coming from a GaGa stan.
