I think people are doubting Nicki's pop power. We all know pop sells more. Not saying she's selling out, but she's definitely a crossover act and taking full advantage of her pop audience.
"Hip Hop" is frequently identified as a culture (the music, clothes, dance, etc.), and "rap" as a form of Hip Hop music and could be identified as a genre in itself. In some cases, they are used hand-in-hand.
Then how would you describe Ke$ha and Flo Rida? They're rappers, but they're not hip-hop. Both are quite proudly pop. Same goes for Pitbull and LMFAO, and newbies like Sabi.
