But I think the Missy Elliot/Madonna/Britney Spears/Xtina performance trumps everything in terms of a Female VMA performance.

I'm Slave 4 U!

So many so called 'great' performances at the VMA's were lipped, so i'm not going to count those.

The Madonna/Britney/Christina thing was so, so awesome. BUT it lacked any true musical greatness. It was mostly spectacle, so that doesn't win.


Hmm...the best I can think/remember is Pink's, I think it was Just Like a Pill?

Well, I could care less if they're lipped or not.

Most of them had "lipped" different version of their songs , some added medley. It's interesting.

And It's all about the energy, they were dancing , changing outfits , acting . Madonna's "Vogue" had the 18th century theme, Britney's performance had the "jungle" theme.It's something cool to watch & enjoy.

I agree pink's performance was cool and I LOVED the song ,but it was nothing special even though it was "live" .It's an award show not a concert.

yep, The Britney's satisfaction/oops performance has been the best so far, I was really shocked the first time I saw it lol!

Beyonce's - Baby Boy/Crazy In Love..that performance was off da chain!..hott!!

Definitely Britney's Satisfaction/OIDIA back in 2000 is the best. I also like Britney's Slave in 2001, Britney/Aguilera/Madonna & Missy in 2003, Beyoncé's Baby Boy/CIL and Madonna's Vogue.
