First, Mary J. has been singing since she was a little girl. There are several bits of footage capturing her singing during her youth. Haven't you watched the VH1, BET, and CNN's specials? They're very informative. Second, studio work was very "shotty" and pretty easy to point out in the early 90's. Mary J. Blige, who quickly drew critical acclaim because of her voice, was not a Paula Abdul. Third, who the hell could afford to pull some average looking girl out of the ghetto and enhance her voice?
