NO QUARTER: Speaking of the album chart, he price war initiated when Amazon MP3 countered Google Music’s 25-cent album promotion with one of its own two weeks ago resulted in sizable boosts for Now 41, Lil Wayne, Drake, Coldplay and Lady Antebellum last week and Guns N’ Roses this week. There were no Sony Music or WMG titles in either promotion; that’s because, unlike the other majors, Sony acts as its own reseller and sets its own prices, while Warner has yet to make a deal with Google Music.

Unlike the other majors, Sony does NOT allow sellers to price their albums whatever they want, but price it themselves. This explains why we haven't seen any hefty discounts on 21.
Because if Sony is the one doing the pricing, THEY would have to price the album at 25 cents, meaning that THEY would take the loss, not Amazon or Google.

Plus it's selling so much at NORMAL prices, retailers would have to be ****ing insane to take a loss on it.

Not true.
For retailers like Amazon and Google who are trying to expand their marketshare, 21 would be the PERFECT way to do it as people who havent used their services before would be more likely to do it to get an album they really want for 25 cents. And though 21 has sold so many copies already, the weekly charts show that there are still people out there to buy it, and a deal like that might be what pushes them to do it.

Retailers like Amazon and Google would be ****ing BRILLIANT to price it at 25 cents to expand their marketshare, if only they could. But alas, Sony seems to have the final say...

Could you imagine the sales if "21" was discounted to 25c???

Why would they do it with 21 though? They fact that they're selling albums for 25 cents alone will create buzz and draw people to their website. They don't need to discount the biggest seller of the year to do it.

ADELE has slayed the gorls on the ALBUMS chart for over a year at regular price. It'll never be .25 cents because it's selling 100K+ a week at regular price.

Adele doesn't need price-cuts anyway, people are obviously willing to pay full price for her.

The lowest price I've seen 21 at is $9.99 and that was Target.

Adele's album is actually a dollar more expensive than most of the other Regular edition albums on iTunes too...

It isn't shading anyone, it's giving us an answer as to why we haven't seen Adele's album participate in the deep discount sales.
