I know the first quarter in music is always dry but is it just me or is there a lack of excitement and activity occurring in particular so far this year? Most of the songs topping the charts have been out since last year. I think this is why we're seeing so many unlikely artists scoring hits because there isn't much to compete with.
On the bright side now would be a great time for an artist to make a comeback, I'm looking at you Mariah and Christina.
It's been boring. I am liking Alternative stuff, like "Somebody That I Used to Know" much better.
We are not even three months into the year, so that's why most of the top 10 is from last year.
In terms of new pop music, we have Nicki, Madonna, and Dev all within the next two weeks.
But, I would advice dipping into different genres.

But even at this time last year new singles like Born This Way and ET were on top.
All the pop starlets released albums in 2011 or late 2010, so this year will feel a little slow.
That being said, we can all still look forward to the only anticipated release this year: Ke$ha.
Yeah, kind of. The only person putting out pure pop music right now is Katy and "Part of Me" isn't her best song. Later this year, we'll be getting new Ke$ha, Rihanna, and Gaga, so it'll pop back up.

E.T. was from 2010 though. It went top 20 on iTunes as a promo single in the summer (when Love the Way You Lie and Just the Way You Are were dominating).
