#1 Wasn't too hard then with Like a G6 and others.
But when Mine was released... if you add the points together it would have debuted at #2, not #1 first week. Love The Way You Lie had like 150 million points on radio and kept selling between 290-320k. #1 was out of the question really. #2 would have been easy though.
I think Sparks Fly/ Enchanted as promo singles could've sold around 200,000 each first week, which would've debuted 4-7 on Hot 100. But you can't change the past, so...

Also, I think uptempo works best for lead singles... Look at the upside- the lead single from album 4 can't possibly be worse than Mine.

Seeing that eyes open, just a random taylor song leaked ahead of release makes me think that it would be very hard for the lead single not to leak and not force BMR to rush release it like mine.
Don't listen to them. They're just a blind hater. They aren't looking to have a discussion about it or to listen to what your saying they just want to spread negativity about Taylor for some odd reason. It's kind of sad really
+1 Not all her songs need a push. People are probably saying it because her songs are more country-pop then country alone.
