I was talking to Joe earlier about net neutrality, and we decided it's important enough to warrant a thread on the topic. If you don't know what net neutrality is, it's what keeps every site on the Internet equal. You have the right to get content from an independent site like ATRL/Popfusion just as much as you do from a huge site like AOL or MSN.
Currently, there's a bill going through Congress trying to take away net neutrality. If there's no more net neutrality, your Internet provider would get to decide which sites you get fast access to, which sites you get slow access to, and which sites you can't access at all. This would be horrible. Huge media companies already dominate radio and TV -- we can't let them be in control of the Internet in the U.S. too. The Internet is the one medium where everyone is equal. We need to keep it that way.
At
http://www.itsournet.org, you can send letters to your senators and representatives about net neutrality. You can voice your opposition for this bill, and fight for your right to keep the Internet equal. This is no joke! Go do it. If you don't, independent sites like ATRL/Popfusion and millions of others could eventually be defeated and gone forever.
