Celeb News: 'Extra' host Maria Menounos to make Wrestlemania debut

The tag team divas match involving Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres vs. Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos has now been confirmed to take place at WrestleMania 28 on April 1st, 2012.

The official challenge came on Menounos’ showbiz gossip show, Extra, which airs in syndication. In an episode which aired today (March 15th), Phoenix and Torres crashed Menounos’ interview with Kelly in an angle that lead to the heel Divas challenging Menounos to a match at WrestleMania. Menounos, who has previously wrestled for WWE on two occassions, accepted.

Beth and Maria then got into a physical altercation, a teaser of their match to come.

After security diffused the situation, removing Phoenix and Torres from the set, Kelly told Menounos that she’d have her back at ‘Mania.

Menounos, the host of Extra and a New York Times best selling author, is a long time WWE fan. She competed in a six Diva tag team match in September 2009 on Raw and again returned last year at Tribute to the Troops, this time in an eight Diva tag team match.

I hadn't known Extra to have much relevancy beyond the 90's, actually.

I doubt this generate much interest here, if any at all. Just a little nugget I thought I'd share. Menounos has also been announced as a contestant on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars.

This is certainly going to be interesting. I'm a little surprised that she is competing at Wrestlemania. didn't think WWE would take that approach.

not really going to be all that good though, because well since when are the Diva's matches that interesting.

What happened to Menounos? I thought she was on Access Hollywood. One minute she was interviewing Obama and his family, the next she is on Extra.

Isn't she on Dancing With The Stars too? I'm not sure about this though. It's kinda tacky.

She's been in the ring before. She was alright...definitely better than some of the divas in the company now. I'll never forgive her for breaking Keith's heart on One Tree Hill

Well I guess this is better than having Snooki again at Mania.

Yeah she did some tag match before with Kelly Kelly I think. Back when she guest hosted RAW.

Aww Maria, Dancing with the Stars AND Wrestlemania....

I'm excited for this, I hope she has more wrestling time, at Tribute to the Troops in December it was just one move in the beginning and the roll up at the end (which was FLAWLESS!)
