I’VE had an exclusive sneak preview of FERGIE’s debut solo album – The Duchess.
And after listening to four tracks, I think the BLACK EYED PEAS singer could do a great job covering for GWEN STEFANI during her maternity leave.
The chorus of the first single, London Bridge, is a double for Gwen’s chart-topping song Hollaback Girl blended with NELLY FURTADO’s Maneater.
The funky tune is sure to be a big hit in clubs following its release on September 11.
Second track Glamorous is a soft, breathy, chill-out tune about the shiny lives of the rich and famous.
Fergie boasts about champagne and diamonds, but adds: “After the show I like to go to see my family . . . I won’t change.”
Rapper LUDACRIS also features on the track, which is a major departure from the Peas sound.
On the husky third track, Clumsy, Fergie turns her attention to romance to sing about falling head-over-heels in love.
The song has a techno beat but again, it’s a step down from the Peas’ characteristic speedy tempo. The result is cool and credible.
Make Up Song (All That I Got) sees Fergie attempting a MARIAH CAREY-style ballad.
The soulful track shows off her range but, to be honest, her voice isn’t as strong as the likes of Mariah.
It’s good but I definitely prefer her funky London Bridge sound.
I hope the rest of the album goes in that direction rather than more ballads.
If it does, it’s sure to be a chart-topper.
Its seems "Fall. Eat. Ride. Grind. Ice. End." won't be a song on the album! lol
I totally fell for the old tracklisting:
1. "Do It Right" (feat. will.i.am)
2. "London Bridge"
3. "Light This Sh*t Up"
4. "The Dutchess"
5. "What's On Ya Mind?" (feat. Nicole Scherzinger)
6. "Sexy Thing"
7. "Fall. Eat. Ride. Grind. Ice. End."
8. "This Is A Slow Jam" (feat. Jason Mraz)
9. "Ferrrocity"
10. "Flash It!" (feat. will.i.am)
11. "Por Qué Es Tan Duro?"
12. "Feel That Beat" (feat. will.i.am)
