Ugh I love Alicia Keys. I feel her voice has gone downhill over the years but I still enjoy ha.
As I Am (742K) is the biggest first week sales of a Female R&B artist (beat the Breakthrough by 13K), The Diary of Alicia Keys is 4th behind to Mary albums.
Her MTV Unplugged album was the first & only by a female artist to debut at #1.
TEOF wasn't received as big commercially as her other 3 albums but Un-Thinkable was big in the R&B world, spending 12 weeks at #1. She also spent 54 weeks at #1 on the R&B charts in the 00's which is either 1st before Usher or 2nd, I can't remember.
Susan Boyle's big ass blocked her from becoming the first female artist to have her first five albums debut at #1.
8 #1 R&B songs (Diary & TSWABH should of went to #1!), 14 top 5 R&B songs. She ruled the R&B charts from late '07 to early '08 (17 straight weeks at #1)
She's had moderate success on pop radio but 'No One' was the most listened to song in 2008 (it was even played on Jazz & Latino stations). Fallin' got play on pop radio too, spending a few weeks at #1 there. Karma and to a less extent 'LYNSMA' got decent rotation on pop radio to and of course her duets 'My Boo' & 'Empire State of Mind'.
No One and If I Ain't Got You got some nice airplay on adult stations and of course No One was one of the biggest songs of the 00's.
Her 5th
studio album is almost done and should drop sometime this year. I can't wait!
P.S. TDOAK won 4 grammy's not 3.
