~That single did go up on the charts the next week after performing that number on AI.~
I say KT Tunstall should thank a bit of her success with that single to Ms. McPhee. It very likely wouldn't have risen as high without her.
And to tell you the truth I prefer Katherine's version over the original.
KT had decent album sales from the first week it was released (within the top 50 with little hype), which maintained probably because of good word of mouth. As far as "BHatCT" is concerned, it did leap on the iTunes singles chart and therefore the Billboard Hot 100 right after Katharine performed. That performance DEFINITELY made a huge difference and there is probably no way that song would've been as big otherwise.
Yeah I think after people saw Katharine's performance they thought "hm that song is quite interesting, I bet with better vocals I'd enjoy it a lot more, better download/buy it" so she helped put KT on the map

*DIES*
KT is talented enough on her own merit, it didn't make or break anything.
She would have been NOTHING without Katherine Mcphee. I payed no attention to the song wutsoever before that performance and I honestly hated it before that (I saw it chart decently in Japan). However, it has now grown on me...a bit due to Katherine Mcphee...
