Performers should not have tattoos unless they make sense with the star's work, and they so rarely do. It's just distracting.

You can use makeup to cover up tattoo's, and it doesn't take that long at all, unless the performers body is completely covered in them.
In some cases, actors have to go through hours of makeup daily anyways.
