And to respond to "Ignoring Britney", I figured that since Oops was 2000, and BTW was 2011, they were 11 years apart.
Obviously Oops was ridiculously anticipated, the sales show that.
However Britney, In The Zone, Blackout and Circus weren't as insanely hyped and anticipated

I'm starting to realise this. It's either their way or the highway.

Im still not getting this logic, if im following this "hype" theory correctly then that means pretty much all albums by big pop stars are "album of the decade" worthy because they had hype i mean If anything the hype around BTW makes it even worse due to the finishing product not the other way round.

All y'all monsters: we don't care if BTW is the album of the decade for you. Everyone has their favorites. The point is that making a thread declaring that after two years this album is the decade's greatest and most important/talked about album is deluded.
I mean tbh if we're really talking social impact and general chatter about it, there's no doubt that although 21 didn't start out like BTW did, it has become more of a social phenomenon than BTW. Does that make it album of the decade? No, definitely not—but by your criteria it does.
Now, if you want to change the thread title to 'BTW was the most anticipated album of the decade', yeah, that works just fine because it's actually true.

Whats your point? I've been her long enough to see that the only thing people are interested in are figures.
I find it rather sad that you're prepared to hold an interweb grudge on me for not liking pixie **** .
Oh well

Only if you let it. Everyone has a choice whether to look or listen to something.
Stans in general chose to listen to Gaga state:
when she originally said it to 20,000 of her own fans (typically bias; most will and have agreed with her) in an arena.

Let's get a few things straight:
1. We won't see hype for an album like BTW for a while. The point made in the OP is valid.
2. Gaga said it was going to be the album of the decade to a CROWD OF RABID FANS. She has also said on multiple occasions the album was FOR THE FANS. Do you guys see the connection?!?
3. The album didn't live up to expectations but I'm 99% certain nothing could. The amount of hype and anticipation was insane. The fact BTW didn't crash and burn harder is more impressive than anything.
4. Again, even though the album didn't meet expectations, let's not act like the album was downright bad. Maybe you didn't like it, maybe you didn't think it was "good," but it certainly wasn't bad so don't act like it was.

You said millennium in the last sentence. That brings on all the 2000s albums. Like I said, I'll agree to the decade.

'Born This Way' is the most anticipated record of the decade. Millennium, not so much.
Edit this, please:

I'd agree with you, except Interscope and Gaga made goddamn sure that everyone knew the words "Born This Way" in time for February 11th, and subsequently May 23rd.
No one has a choice when you bombard them at all fronts.

How about NO?
I can't at you making your argument based on how much hype it had. Seriously.

Preach the truth.

However, allow me to argue this point: When has an album been so anticipated, so hyped, and so overdone like Born This Way has been?
|
Because the hype of an album has everything to do with it being the album of the decade? No. Just no.

Well, not everyone, but she was a major star, yes.

We were all aching to hear any sort of leak from this album. We would go insane as soon as she released a promo image. For months people speculated about everything this album had to offer, from how the first single would sound (Remember when people thought it would be a ballad? ), to how much it would sell in the first week (I remember when I thought that 500K was "pushing it").
|
I wasn't. I never went insane or even gave a damn about new Gaga music. That's true, many people did speculate, but that still doesn't mean the album was the "album of the decade."

Maybe, but I don't know how you would be able to prove that.

So, although Gaga wishes it were the cultural force it could have been, I think we can settle for Born This Way being the most overhyped, rabidly anticipated album of the millenium.
|
Millennium? So you've been to the year 3000? How was it?
So, to sum it up, you didn't make a point at all. All you said was you believed the album was the "album of the decade" because it was extremely hyped. I'm sorry, but an album can be extremely hyped, but when it's released, it could be horrible. That doesn't make it the album of the decade. In order to earn that title, the album needs to make a bigger impact than any other album in the decade. I'm sorry, but Born This Way does not have that. If we're talking 2010-2019, then I believe 21 has all albums beat at the current moment.
And yes, Born This Way was VERY hyped. I will give you that.

It's Shape's opinion, IDK why everybody is rushing in here disagreeing with it.
Being an entertainer is about artistic and professional growth. How long did everybody expect her to continue with The Fame/Glamor schtick? Born This Way is a solid pop album, I can only say the same for about 3 other albums released this decade.
