LeAnn Rimes is reportedly in talks to join "The X Factor," Simon Cowell's FOX singing contest series, following the departure of Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger earlier this year.
The 29-year-old Grammy-winning country singer reportedly spent the entire day in a meeting with "X Factor" producers on March 7, in talks to serve as a mentor and judge on the series, according to X17 Online.
Though Simon Cowell was not present at the meeting, the entertainment outlet reports that he had a hand in bringing Rimes into negotiations. The "How Do I Live" singer is expected to find out whether she's landed a spot on the judging panel, a multi-million dollar gig, within the next three weeks.
Rimes has been actively working in music for 16 years and earned two Grammy Awards at the age of 14 in 1997. She is the youngest person in Grammy history to win the Award.
Cowell said last month that he learned his lesson from the first season of "The X Factor," which delivered lower ratings than those earned by "American Idol," which had featured him as a judge from its 2002 debut to 2010. "The X Factor" debuted on FOX last fall and averaged around 13 million viewers. January's season 11 premiere of "American Idol" was watched by more than 21 million viewers.
It was announced in January that Abdul, who had also served as a judge on "American Idol" with Cowell, and Scherzinger would not return for the second season of "The X Factor." Host Steve Jones was also booted.
Other celebrities named as possible contenders to replace Abdul and Scherzinger include Fergie and Janet Jackson, according to unconfirmed reports.
Earlier in the week, it was announced that Britney Spears received a $10 million offer to serve as a judge on the series, but might be holding out for $16 million.

There's been several reports about and I think she'd be a good choice tbh. I'd rather have her judging next to britney than Avril.
I don't think she'd be too nice like britney would so it'd a nice balance, she also basically needs this to help her career and it'd be good having a country artist judging for a change to offer more variety.
I'm here for it.
