A CONTROVERSIAL TV show where death row prisoners are interviewed minutes before they are killed has become a massive hit in China.
Around 40million fans watch Interviews Before Execution every Saturday.
Host Ding Yu asks handcuffed murderers about their favourite films before she quizzes them about their crimes.
Doomed cons can then beg for forgiveness.
One man, in his 20s — who stabbed his ex-wife in front of her parents — drops to his knees before his mum and dad and pleads: "Father, I was wrong. I'm sorry."
As he is led away his mother says: "Go peacefully. It's following government's orders."
This is “Dead Men Talking,” which is a documentary version of the reality show Interviews Before Execution made for BBC with 20% new content. I think they did this because they didn't want to air all the episodes in the BBC network and having to translate and add subtitles to everything, so they just made a one hour long documentary. It's suppose to air sometime next week.
Interesting show concept, but very controversial. Would you guys watch a show like this (If there was sub titles or an American version)?
That is just creepy. I can't even watch Lockup Raw or whatever when they show people with life sentences.
I've watched plenty of documentaries about death row. It's actually quite sad when they explain why they're in the situation they are in right now, their past, etc... But those were documentaries and not full on TV series
Now I know that's a bigger audience than some pop girls get on tour...
Anywho, if they want to say some last words then I guess let them talk. We're living in the times Andy Warhol talked about. Everyone, including death-row, inmates will be world-famous for 15 minutes.
