How true is that? In reality, actual talent is what it comes down to.
You can be a celebrity forever (i.e. Britney Spears #1 searched on Yahoo, STILL to this day). But to actually be in a craft like music, or acting, something's gotta give.

I think that it really depends. Tiffany was the Britney of the 80s and you only see her on ET on the weekends. & Madonna is currently having trouble having hits in the U.S. I think that when you're more of a performer than a singer it will eventually catch up to you. When you become too old to do pop music what do you have? Britney will be in the limelight for a long time but who knows it might die down. I think that the people in the '80s never thought that Tiffany would be where she is now. Britney can't keep up the stunts forever. Even if she does have another album, her time is limited. Most of the people that lasted were the people w/ talent. Aerosmith, the Stones, Stevie Wonder, etc. Sometimes other things get in the way though like death, Jimi Hendrix would've been around much longer, so would've Janis Joplin, and the Ramones, and Queen. Marvin Gaye also would've had a lot more hits. But sometimes it's the fact that they died that gives them they're icon status. James Dean for i.e. Prince lasted but his hits aren't consistent. MJ tried to last but he had
other problems, very unfortunate because he was one of the most talented artists we ever had.Being a celebrity is a very strange thing. You are what the media makes you. You last as long as they want you to. The only way that you have a decision in the matter is if there's actual talent there.
