That's nuts. I can't even imagine not buying any music for a month, let alone the full year. It's my favourite thing to spend money on.

Edit: But having said that, barely any of the CDs I bought last year were actually from 2011. Not a very good year imo.

Blaming Illegal downloads is just like blaming Youtube for hurting the sales.

With iPhones, smartphones, laptops, PC's you can basicly listen to ANY song ANYWHERE on Youtube without owning it legally, so what differance does it make if you downloaded the song or listened to it over at Youtube??

They should do another Survey comparing what people who actually bought music in 2010 did in 2011
and had another part of it to so the % of people who started buying music first in 2011.

Cuz' 48% might sounds alot butdo we know 2010 numbers?Cuz' I'm sure your grandma's didn't buy music in 2011 but they sure didn't do so in 2011 as well!

Age 39? That is shocking considering the top 20 albums of 2011.. Well aside from Adele of course, she caters to everybody.

I mean, Adele could have hit 10 million albums in the US already

This is sad. Don't they realise illegal downloads could end up destroying the industry?

It's not surprising at all when catalog outsold current albums by a good margin in 2011.

I bought Loud in 2011. And I rather to buy physical Cd's. This year I bought TTT and TTT Deluxe and if RiRi won't realese anything, I will buy nothing next year probably. Music is too expensive in our country.

That's sad. I just love the feeling of buying a new CD

yeah, buying music is out. buying drugs and guns seems to be more important these days. I will never stop buying music!! NEVER
