Before you proceed to the poll, consider the numerous factors that he could possibly be up against. Justin Timberlake was one of the major forces in the industry during the early-mid 2000s, selling more than 10 million copies worldwide with his debut, and spawning the hits "Cry Me a River" and "Rock Your Body". He continued his success with his second solo album, FutureSex/LoveSounds in 2006, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, and produced the US number-one hit singles "SexyBack", "My Love", and "What Goes Around... Comes Around", and earning numerous Grammy Awards and accolades as of so far.
Since then, Justin has done very little with his music career and has pursued the show biz industry instead. But as many of us are already aware, the industry's sound in 2002-2006 is nowhere near the same as it is currently. We're no longer in an era where innovation and vocal performance is in demand. Rather, the industry is looking for more emphasized beats and the image of the artist over substance. Vocally-skilled artists like Beyonce, Christina, Usher (with his R&B singles) have struggled to even reach the Top 10 in a Dr. Luke, auto-tuned, "Complete Confection"-dominated industry.
Is Timberlake's sound too dated for today? And will he need to conform to the bandwagon in order to attain success again?
