Well, aside from the fact that Ohio is overwhelmingly White, most mass school shootings are committed by white males, so yes I assumed it was a white male.

Yes. I live 5 minutes away from Chardon (I don't give a **** who knows), and I knew the shooter was white the second that the story broke. There is alot of bullying here, and the schools are predominately white. So yeah, it wasn't really a surprise. I've always expected something like this to happen here.

Well seeing how 70% of office shoots are committed by White men (per MSNBC), it is a safe assumption that public shootings in general are conducted by White men.

Sorry if I came across that way, I honestly didn't know that was a stereotype, and I know nothing about Ohio's demographics. I'm not offended; I just figured race has nothing to do with a person's motivation to go on a rampage like this.

Lies. If anything it would've been huge as I really cannot recall a black kid ever doing such a thing, he/she would be the first which would in turn cause mass attention/coverage.

I'm not trying to be super offensive here but I'm starting to think that the "troubled, bullied white boy shoots up school" thing is becoming as common as "teacher has sex/molests/gropes student."

I agree with the first part.

And as for the second part, I just think that white school shooters are a hotter news item than a teacher sexually abusing their students or a priest molesting children, sadly. Take a look at Columbine and how relevant it still is in today's news. It's weird that Virginia Tech isn't as widely publicized or discussed and it was way more recent and had a higher death toll.

We actually talked about this in one of my psych classes last semester. The typical school shooters are white males from working - middle class families, so the assumption is understandable.
