COM will probably start gaining some sort of hype around the time the video releases, and I'm sure that it'll go straight to the top 10 once it's released on iTunes.
Call On Me has not been out for a year, it has only been a couple of weeks so I hope that was just sarcasm. As for Janet Jackson flopping, Damita Jo really didn't flop people just keep saying that simply because it wasn't as huge as her other albums in the past. I think she'd had a streak of albums that had debuted at number one and sold much more, however Damita Jo debuted at #2 its first week (Usher and "Yeah" were out at the time) and the album still sold plenty of copies, but it just didn't stick around nearly as long.
In terms of Janet's own catalogue of albums, yes DJ was a flop, in terms of an album among all other artists, it was a decent effort and no where near being the disaster that people made it out to be.
As everyone else has said, she needs a strong second single . . . so I hope she and JD or Jimmy Jam and Terry know what the hell they're doing cause it will make or break her album.
All Nite (Don't Stop) / I Want You were really great songs, and it's a shame they flopped because of the anti-Janet hype. I bet the album would have done really well if it wasn't for the Superbowl scandal... Sexhibition & Strawberry Bounce probably would have been released as singles too (clearly she couldn't release a song called Sexhibition after that Superbowl performance).
Call on Me is pretty boring. A lot of people wrote her off after that Superbowl thing (and I am sure it cost her a lot of goodwill in the industry --- the aftermath of that impacted radio in a big way with events like Howard Stern going to satellite radio happening as a result), and the scandal over her weight is hardly the kind of pre-release hype anyone wants to here.
