Part of me believes this, but she could always just forgo chart success for critical acclaim, like 4 or something. Even without single success, she could still top year end lists and still be in the media. With MDNA, she won't be getting chart success nor critical acclaim, it looks like

I completely disagree. She's so established and respected now that she could use her power do something really special. What would she have to lose in taking a risk? She'd have to go WAY off the deep end to lose her international fanbase.

I think she's just lazy or she's lost her spark.

She was aiming at the charts with Confessions, and critics loved it (80 on Metacritic...)

That shows she can do both, but with good music - not forgettable stuff like MDNA's two first singles.

I can't choose between 90's Madonna or 00's Madonna.
I'm the minority, but I absolutely LOVED Hard Candy.
She can make dance music but also be introspective and have meaningful lyrics.
She just chooses not to.

I like her when she is doing moody, deep songs.
They are not really envelop pushing and they are not have-fun songs
But you don't have an option for that sadly.
