Monica Releasing "Everytime Tha Beat Drop" as 1st Single :(
"Everytime Tha Beat Drop" is a R&B song written by Johnta Austin, Jermaine Dupri, Charles Hammond, Robert Hill Jr., Geangelo Hunt, James Phillips and Dem Franchize Boys for Monica's fourth studio album A Dozen Roses (2006). It was co-produced by Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox and incorporates beats of Nelly's 2005 hit single "Grillz". The track will officially be released as the album's lead single on July 24, 2006. Its Ray Kay directed music video was shot on July 7 and 8 in Atlanta, Georgia.

I'm not usually the one to start threads, but I was kind of sad that she decided to release this. the song is all right, but I don't think many people will like it, plus it's not her style. I hope the album still sells well. I hope it has some good R&B tracks, too.
A "remastered" version was released, but I think it sounds pretty much the same.
Big Monica fan, but I'm not sure about a song sampling "Grillz" as a first single.
There has been pressure on Monica to be more "street" and "urban" (why All Eyez On Me was recorded and later turned into After The Storm). I just think it's going to make the material suffer.

I completely agree. And as big of a fan as I am, I may not choose to support her if she does indeed go the "street" route. That's not the Monica I grew up listening to. The real Monica is simply soul with a harder edge.
