Poll: is Adele selling out?

when she first came into the music scene in 2008 she seemed like a humble girl who only cared about the music and not so much about the looks but since she became big she keeps contradicting herself.

First she said that she will never play at Arenas http://www.mtv.co.uk/news/adele/271396-adele-festivals and then later on she backtracked on the statement http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011...le-arena-shows.

She also said that she didn't care about her weight or what people thought about her but since she hit it big she dramatically lost a lot of weight

And she also stated

yet she appeared on the cover of vogue twice!

so do you think she is selling out or she just chaged her mind about things now that she is a global superstar??

I don' t think she's selling out, she's growing and evolving, the right way. I could see it as selling out if she's lost weight, did her hair differently to become famous, but that is not the key to her success. It could of just happened naturally.

well what singer hasnt sold out a little bit?? I think just about all have in some certain degree. But there's nothing wrong with that, if that's what she wants to do, then I don't see a problem with it. Were all humans and in one part of our lives we said we weren't gonna do something but ended up doing it anyway.

Well... she doesn't need to sell out heself because she's already a great commercial song writter. She already knows what general public wants, so won't she stop.

She was 19 when she came out.. she's 22(?) now. She obviously has a different outlook now and has obviously changed.

To be honest, no. I think she's finally starting to change for the betterment of herself and her health. As for the arena and Vogue gigs, who would deny? When she said many of those things I don't think she meant to say that she would never cover Vogue or Playboy if they asked, but rather it's not what she's looking for from fame. She probably didn't expect either to be a global superstar, ever.

I agree. Also, she said she didn't want to be on Vogue, meaning that was never her goal. It's not like she said "If offered I'd say no".

Let her be who is wants to be. Honestly everyone on this planet desires to look a bit sexy once in a while. Why should Adele be an exception? Her recent Vogue spread is Beautiful!

Unless she sings a bunch of Dr. Luke rejects, I'ma say no. She's young, and people change their minds. And of course given the opportunity, money and health issues, people will have second thoughts. She's not changing her whole image. She has still been wearing her classy black attire lately.

she's still staying true to herself. when she made statements like not wanting to be on the cover of vogue i don't think she meant it literally, she just meant that isn't her goal... at the end of the day, she's still herself. you can make smart business decisions without being a sellout.

not at all. She was at a very unhealthy weight before. Her wanting to be healthy doesnt make her a sell out. She isnt even thin.

when you become successful as she is you have to re-think a lot of things. She has a huge audience to please so its understandable she could be talked into bigger venues.

As for her weight; she's still in her early 20s and her weight is changing naturally. Those old pics of her looking very fat were when she was baerly out of her teens. Its very common for people to shed weight in their 20s after being a fat teen. Plus also its very common for large people to say things about not wanting to be thin. But we all know they dont mean it and they just say it as a defense tool.

And she's never vowed to stay fat forever more and can change her mind about her own body if she damn well pleases. She's hardly skinny now. Still a big size girl so she hasnt even sold out. Probably just getting better advice and eating more healthily.

To suggest she has to stay fat and only play small venues to be true and authentic is blatantly ridiculous. And as for Vogue....she was doing it for the big girls and demonstrating that they too can be glammed up and sell mags. Nothing hypocritical just leading by example.
