Shakira should release "Timor" as the final single. It's too risky of a song. I could see it being a success in Europe and elsewhere (it may cause controversy in the U.S.).
I think with a nice remix or radio edit "The Day and the Time" and "Hey You" could prove to be pretty good singles.
Both "Illegal" (*yawn*) & "Timor" will flop. Though lyrically, "Timor" is a wise, story telling, socially conscious track, her vocals make the song into a complete joke. I don't get all the praise "Animal City" is getting either. It's embarrassingly cheesy.
"Hey You" would be the wise follow up single to HDL, with "Something" and/or "How Do You Do" ending off the era.

Well that's the point, the song is sarcastic in every possible way. Serious lyrics, cheesy-dance-happy-pop music. It's just like how some people ignore serious good music and makes songs like, yeah, HDL or Laffy Taffy #1 everywhere...You see, most people wants that song to be a single because it is a happy and upbeat pop song but some don't even care about the lyrics or don't care about the meaning of the song...
If she wants 2x platinum, I think people will fall into 'guitly pleasure' mode with "Animal City" which would get more play than anything else on the album. 'Illegal' would sound good with a mix because it's slow and boring. 'Timor' would flop, good song, but flop. 'How Do You Do' wouldn't do too well either. So yeah.
Timor is so gonna flop. Animal City is the only single left on that album! Oh well, she had HDL.
