Flaunt.nu is the best one in my opinion. I run my German fansite on their servers.
They ALWAYS help and everything works great. You also get a high level domain (.com e.g.).. but for that you have to know how to code a site, have to do HQ-designs and your site needs 300+ visitors per day. Try it! You have to apply

I run kworb.net on Dreamhost. Cheap and good.

Before I switched ATRL to a dedicated web host we used HostRocket they are cheap and provide great support. I haven't tried our current hosts shared hosting as we have a dedicated server we manage on our own, but Hivelocity provides great support for us, and is cheap too.

I used Weebly.com. It's super easy and free. If you want to upgrade to a .com/.net domain you have to pay, but it's not that expensive at all.

tumblr is a good start.

I use blogger. It's free and easy. You can personalize it and make it your own. I'm ready to renew my domain for my VH1 site.

I agree with this.

I run several websites on Dreamhost and except for occasional down time, which every host has, they've been great to me since 2006.

They also offer Private Registration, as far as I can tell, for no additional cost.

NOT a 1994 HTML site with a center layout.

And OP: just steer clear of GoDaddy. They look nice, but prey on newbies like a vulture.
