NME is one of the better magazines out there, but they're still pretentious, vain and often idiotic, much like Pitchfork.

I'm still loving this momentary slip-up and taste of honesty.

p.s. This isn't the first instance of some sort of real-life dramatic irony unfolding on NME's part.

I remember when they published their story on Gaga before Born This Way was released, they included this article on Radiohead where they called The King of Limbs "a radical reinvention that fuses timeless langour with post-modern darkness over towering ziggurat electronica", an attempt to poke fun at how pretentious the band and its reviewers had become.

In a way, they're similar to Pitchfork, but they might be even worse. Pitchfork at least stays true to its drowned-in-indie persona, while NME is willing to turn on even the most glorified hipster music when it appears to grow to a towering intellectual, critical or commercial--even within the context of the indie world--appeal.

They seem afraid to go the last mile, serving their highest praise only to the ultra-obscure or good, but not great, artists out there.
