I felt that this topic really needs to be addressed immediately. Is everyone aware that if and when your ipod battery runs out, Apple will not replace it? If your ipod breaks or anything goes wrong outside of the one-year warranty, Apple will not fix it! This is a serious problem. I can't go back to cd players. I'm in college and I can't afford to be spending 2-$300 on a new ipod.

I had dropped my ipod and the controls weren't working properly & I called them to fix it (it still works) but they said that they couldn't because it was past the one-year warranty plan. The attendant I spoke to told me that it would be a waste of my money to extend the plan because it would cost more than it would to buy a new one. I know what the web site says but this was just about 4 weeks ago. In a recent press conference a spokeperson for Apple said that the ipod was never meant to be a long-term thing. They are not responsible if something is wrong w/ it. Apple is getting filty rich off of this. People don't really know what they're doing yet because a lot of people's ipods are relatively new. I'm just trying to say that the warranty should be longer than a year because usually electronics mess up after the first year that you buy them. Also, it shouldn't cost more than the price of a new ipod to extend the warranty. Like when you buy other expensive things like digital cameras, t.v.s, etc. they let you extend the warranty plan for a reasonable amount of money. & the warranty is usually like a year and a half to two years.

Mine Broke, I went in, they gave me a brand new one.
They didn't even check my warranty.

Wow, my iPod was fubar a few days ago and TC helped me fix it..I always thought that when you broke it that they'd help you, assholes. You helped grow their business and they give you ****, nothing. WTF.

Is there an Apple store anywhere near you? If there is you should go there. There are people there who specialize in fixing iPods. When my iPod mini broke the guy looked at it, told me what was wrong, then estimated the cost of repair. Typical stuff but they were very friendly and helpful. What surpised me is he also suggested some third-party accessories that can help you fix your problem.

If there's nothing you can do to fix it you can get 10% off your next iPod purchase and you can also get an additional 10% off if you're a college student.

Thanks, man. The number I called was from the website and the lady I talked to could have been nicer. I know that there are other places where I can get it fixed it's just expensive you know. When you went to get yours fixed did they ask you when you got it, and did you have it for more than a year?

Random Question about I Pods: Could you take any Mp3s (Some of which might be illegally downloaded ) you have on your computer that are not from the Itunes store, and put them into an I Pod?

Right now I'm more leaning towards buying an Mp3 player. (Mainly for the gym) But either IPod or Mp3, I'm getting tired of CDs.

Yeah, as long as they are mp3 files. You can convert wma files but it doesn't always work.

Apple hasn't officially announced anything yet, they're just rumors. But I guarantee there WILL be a new version of iPod out sometime early next year, if not sooner.

Anyway, I've never had any problems with my iPod, but I guess Apple can't be responsible for your dropping your ipod. But if it's just the battery that's not working, you can get it replaced easily for 50 dollars.

Yes, they did. And my iPod was way older than a year. I got it in March 2004 and it broke on me in June 2006.

I think that you're susposed to book an appointment with the people who fix the iPod. I didn't know this when I went to get my iPod fixed so I just went to the store and made my appointment there (the wait was an hour, but it was in the mall so I left and came back). The random employees that walk around the store are uninformed and know nothing. They think those silly iPod updates will make a difference.

It would have been expensive to get my iPod fixed (they had to replace the headphone jack). I could have bought an iPod nano for the price it would have cost to repair it. I just found the people there incrediably helpful.

Also, did you ever try resetting your iPod. That may help.

They did reveal it in a mini-conference , but they haven't announced it officially yet. I've read an article that Apple & their iPod sales are going down ,that would probably be the reason why they are keeping it in hush. If people know about it ,nobody will buy their current one until the new one gets out.

You should have bought an MP3 player instead (like me). I dropped mine the other day and now it won't let me upload songs, but Best Buy gave me a 2 year warranty so their giving me a gift card to buy a new one of equal or lesser value.

Apple ALWAYS keeps things quiet, they don't like to reveal things until very last minute. Usually some rumors and stuff get out beforehand, but Apple themself keeps their mouth shut about everything... usually, anyway.

And whoever is having the problems, maybe you could direct a question toward the people at ilounge.com, they are usually really helpful with ipod problems.

Also, whoever mentioned the best buy warranty, last I checked most best buys sell ipods, and you can get the best buy warranty on ipods, i'm sure.

I wouldn't have any of the other mp3 players besides ipod, none of them really seem to stand up in ease of use. Not to mention i'm a looks-*****, and none of the other mp3 players look as nice to me.
