I don't think that the fact that she's not American should be a problem. Look at Natasha Beddingfield, she has an accent (not as audible as Lily's, but still) and did great with "These Words" and "Unwritten".
I personally don't like the song, but it's doing great overseas.
...but you we're f**kin' that girl next door, what you do that for?!
I sooo LOVE this song! Her accent is quite a typical London accent and I'm glad that she isn't trying to cover up... some do by trying to sound more posh or even American. She's being compared to and being hailed as the female version of Mike Skinner, front man of The Streets. Ooh, There's two b-side tracks on the maxi single called "Cheryl Tweedy" and "Absolutely Nothing". At first I thought the song "Cheryl Tweedy" would be a dig at the famous Girls Aloud member and WAG, but the song is actually just a moan about everything she doesn't like about herself and how she wishes she looked like Cheryl! The other song "Absolutely Nothing" is also very cool... I love it when the b-side tracks are great... it gives me hope that her album tracks will be even better. There's no doubt, I'll be buying "Alright, Still" as soon as it's on on the 17th.

The video for "Smile" is on YouTube.com right here. It's quite a simple video that was obviously done on a budget, but it's funny and there's a scene where Lily drugs her ex's cup of tea with some laxative's!!! There's a whole bunch of Lily video's on YouTube.com in general. ENJOY!
Well if you think this is bad you'll also have to 'endure' the launch of Sandi Thom with her dreadful release 'I WIsh I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair)' which is nauseating and hoipefully will flop.
What good music DOES the Uk have to offer which America in general isnt aware of?
...the plastic generation? Sorry if Lily doesn't look like every other perfectly formed blonde tart... I think she looks great, actually! She knows she's not the best looking girl either... listen to her song "Cheryl Tweedy" is you get a chance. Ohh and Sandi Thom is great as well and has a lot more feeling than most artist who wouldn't dare release an album full of 'demo' quality songs, unpolished and all of that.
