"Don't Bother" wasn't a hit in the UK because the UK radio stations refused to play the song and promotion was lackluster. It had nothing to do with the quality of the song or being original (you should know that Popular radio or getting a hit has nothing to do with the quality or originality of a song, think "Laffy Taffy"). UK radio stations were doing the exact same thing to "Hips Don't Lie" even when it debuted, despite the video and song doing well on their own video music channels.
"Whenever Wherever", an original song, was a hit and only failed to reach #1 in the UK because of bad timing (releasing the same week as Will Young, the UK Idol winner). With its sales, had it been released practically any week but that week it would have been guaranteed the #1 spot.
Nice try though. And it's not stealing when the guy she supposed "stole" it from is right beside her singing the song.
