Do you think Christina Aguilera's MUSIC is underrated?
Okay here is the deal. I want to discuss Christina's DISCOGRAPHY. Honestly I feel like her music and what she has given us is REALLY UNDERRATED. I don't understand why she is hated on so much? Her music is so empowering, when I listen to it it hits me emotionally, physically, mentally. Hurt is the only song in my whole life that has ever brought a tear down my face. I don't get how generic club tracks about drugs and sex are considered iconic while music like this is really looked over.
I feel like Christina's career began in the wrong generation. If her music was released in the 80's, she would have been huge. Now, obviously she's more famous worldwide than she is on ATRL. But i still feel like her music really underrated. And as much as I love Britney Spears, as I have been listening to Christina alot the past week I just happen to wonder, Why were the 2 compares SO MUCH?! The only similar things between them was their debut album. Besides that, each one went in a completely different path.
Christina has defenitely grown on me, and I want her to come back harder than ever. I don't care about anything, I just want MORE MUSIC FROM HER. The way she touches me is just... words can't explain.
Because her albums are over the top.. I mean 20 or 22 songs are not necessary on her albums "Stripped", "Back to basics" or "Bionic" ... her albums are extreme long.... she doesn't understand than "Less is more".
She has a great voice and she should be using that voice on songs comparable to "I will always love you", "My heart will go on", "Hero", etc ... instead she uses her voice on songs like "Not myself tonight", "Keeps getting better", and "I hate boys".
She releases albums like every 5 years, and when she finally comeback her albums are nothing "That special", other divas can release albums as good as hers in less time.

And finally her personality is disgusting. honestly.
I have often felt that Christina Aguilera's songs tend to overemphasize her voice rather than finding that perfect balance between the music and her singing. I think sometimes she needs to let the music shine. She has a great voice, but sometimes it's just too much.
I rep Britney Spears a lot. The people who handled her career always seemed to strive to find music that complimented her voice. They worked hard to make up for her vocal shortcomings.

THIS. And the point of this thread is to get people aware about it, but i don't even know. I guess it is because everyone sees her as a real threat to their faves, so it is normal for everyone to hate her and not want her to succeed.

LOL. You ask for the opinions of other ATRL members and then disregard them if they don't align with your own views.
Christina Aguilera has not been a threat to any of the top Pop artists for several years.
If you are trying to fish for compliments, create a thread titled, "Let's praise Christina Aguilera's music."
I dont find her music underrated her songs are always used in different singing competitions. (This is a good proof that singers and musicians appreciate your songs and not only the public).
the problem is she isnt that solid when it comes to albums most have many fillers and are very long. and also she's releasing songs like very 3 or 4 years you know how pop music works and it is very unstable and change a lot.

I agree specially with the use of her voice point.
She has many, many underrated songs. There are so many gems on Back 2 Basics and Bionic that go completely unnoticed.
However, her albums as a whole are not underrated for the simple fact that they contain too much filler which cancels out the great material. It's the exact same thing that Gaga did with BTW, if it was alot shorter (like 10 tracks), it would've been such a strong record. Bionic has like 10 amazing songs IMO but it also has like 10 crappy songs, so the mixed reviews make sense, and hence she's not underrated in that aspect.
So I'm iffy on this question. It's a yes and no.
I really pray that her next record will be concise and leave all that extra filler off. She's not taking a 4 year break, so that's a good sign. The main reason Christina garners so much hatred is because all the stans of other artists deep down KNOW that Xtina can slay their faves. She's gorgeous when she wants to be and her voice is unmatched when she uses it correctly.
