She contributes about 20% percent of her success. It's not like people try to put her down, they just don't really take her seriously as an artist

People don't put her down. It's only pop music enthusiasts who have a problem with her. The general public couldn't care less about how talented she is. As long as she keeps churning out good music, Rihanna will stay.

Minimal involvement in material, more image driven, never improving vocals, rarely puts on a good show, only winning fanbased or chart-based awards, only following trends even with album tracks, yearly releases, chart manipulation
Her music is cool sometimes and making mostly commercial driven material is fine but the bigger picture makes it hard to respect her

Because apparently she is talentless and a singles artist yet she is still more successful and selling more albums than their faves.

She writes her songs, but what are her songs about?

There really hasn't been anyone in history like Rihanna, she's just a breath of fresh air.

In my opinion, she appears to have shoved aside any artistic credibility for the sake of sales and following trends. Aside from that, I genuinely don't find her to be overly talented, vocally or dance wise. That's my opinion. Don't report this - I'm answering the question.

At the end of the day:
Being a good dancer isn't required material to be a successful artist. It's just a plus. That's just your criteria and personal taste. I don't consider her to be the worst dancer anyway.
Just because y'all have this idea of a perfect popstar or Rihanna fit it or because Rihanna is constantly compared to others and sometimes falls short doesn't mean ****, in my opinion. People are incredibly fickle of the chick and it's ridiculous. They always find ways to discredit her and find it very hard to give her credit when she actually earns it.
Rihanna knows she's not the best vocalist. She doesn't front about it.
How many trends does Rihanna truly follow though? Nothing sounded like "Pon de Replay" when she debuted. She was the first artists to do dance music in recent years. Russian Roulette wasn't a trend. If anything it went against the grain of anything that was out at the moment. I'm not denying that she doesn't have music that follows trends, but she also has music that doesn't. It goes both ways. ALL artists have commercial music that follows trends.
I don't consider her to be a cash cow. If the bitch was a cash cow, she'd be promoting her album or a new single instead of continuing to push the same ol' stale ass first single from her album. She's been releasing music since her debut, but the bitch hardly promotes. She'll release new music and barely promote while other artists release a new CD and promote/milk the hell out of them for at least 2 years at a time. I mean what's the difference? Can you really blame the bitch for capitalizing on her success anyway?
I can be critical of Rihanna. I'm a big fan, but a rational one. I know the bitch has faults. I know she isn't the most talented artists out there, but she makes music that the general public and I love. You don't have to take her that seriously. I don't even think Rihanna is taking herself that seriously. I honestly think she releases music because she loves it and she's just living life and having fun. So stop looking into it. She doesn't have to be Beyonce, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Janet Jackson, Mariah, Katy, GaGa, Adele, or anyone else. Let the bitch do her and go her own path.

Spot on and i like her but she needs to take a break imo before she burns out or material quality continues to appear rushed. 9 no1s already suggests she is a big star and can afford to take time with her albums rather than rush out material threating about her place in the music industry.

I love her but I think her twitter has lost a lot of respect for her from a lot of people.
She is obviously a smart business woman but her twitter makes her look like an illiterate idiot. Most people don't look up song writing credits to give her credit for anything. She wouldn't have lasted this long if she was a talentless hack, she is great IMO, she just doesn't give a ****.
