Yeah, the final mix was actually in November 2011 I think, according to snookimonster on pulse. So either it's just a coincidence that she changed the line ("so you can keep the diamond ring" on the final version makes much more sense than "you can keep the dog from me" on the demo version) or they stitched the line in last-minute after the divorce. Of the latter, I don't think of it as "cashing in" as much as a big "**** you" to Russell.

At MTV not knowing about the demo

Rihanna heard Stupid in Love before the incident but she put it on rated R, and everyone still thinks it's about the incident and him cheating on her. It's not really a big deal cause it is obvious to us that most of these pop girls (especially the ones with writing camps) don't write their own songs.

It doesn't matter if its about Brand or not. It could be written for someone else and she later thought it works for Brand. And so what if she's cashing in on the break-up. They all do. Song still sucks though.

Less people seem to have known about the demo than what I expected. Obviously, because they think it's all about Russell. Even if she didn't record that new line, they still would of thought it was about him.

The song was definitely a leftover for teenage dream. the song already leaked out one or two years ago on youtube. It was just sheer coincidence that she and russell just got divorced and that's why she tweak some of the lyrics and released it as a single.
