I apologize for the issues today, I am in the process of hardening the firewall, but the problem we have is that a smart firewall that is able to detect all kinds of attacks, and block them costs almost as much as our server does per month. So right now we are using a software based firewall that tries to deter as much as possible. While it does work sometimes, it is not as powerful as the hardware firewall. I am currently talking with our host to see what can be done, and as you have noticed I am making tweaks all the time to try and prevent these kind of attacks.
have you ever considered starting fresh? i know atrl has a lot of archiving, etc. but maybe a fresh start would be helpful? not that i know much about it, and it would take a lot of adjustments by a lot of people, but change could be good.

I don't really understand the attack concept. what is attacking the site exactly? are these attacks specifically aimed at the ATRL server or does this sort of thing happen to all websites?
I'm sorry but I don't really know anything about the attacks and servers, etc. I'm very grateful though that Joe and all the mods are being very generous to run this site for normal members like me. I know I can do nothing to help (as I'm not always online and I really have zero idea on the problem) but I just want to cheer up Joe and I believe he'll come up with a very good protection for the site. Thank you very much for all the work you've done to ATRL.
