New parents Beyonce and Jay-Z have filed a trademark application to protect their daughter Blue Ivy's name.
The superstar couple filed a petition at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on January 26, just weeks after becoming mom and dad to their first child.
The filing, submitted by Beyonce's company BGK Trademark Holdings, is currently pending but is expected to be approved, according to the Washington Post.
Authorities have already rejected two applications from firms who have attempted to cash in on the name, insisting it belongs to a "very famous infant."
Her name could be Grape Koolaid, it really doesn't matter, it holds value.
Someone almost trademarked Blue's name for their own baby clothing line,
so it's a smart move on Beyonce and Jay's part.
