pop stars are theoretically paid because they are singers. If they can't sing and dance at the same time, they should leave the dancing to the dancers. Gaga seems to be moving more in that direction recently. I've never seen Gaga lip a verse, but she has used heavy layered vocals in chorus tracks that let her cheat. I'm not fond of that either.

Yeah I mean the entire arabian/egyptian segment I think it was composed by: Gimme More, (DD) Beautiful, Don't let me be the last to know, and Boys .... IMO all that segment was the best she's done in terms of production.

Circus tour had more simple stages than the FFT though it had better outfits.

Singers are DEMANDED to "perform", "dance" and put on a "show", though. Most Lady Gaga stans make fun of Katy's deplorable dancing skills, but when she dances (see E.T. at American Idol) she's ridiculed. Nobody would like Rihanna, Lady Gaga or Katy if they just stood there and sang. They're not talented enough vocally.

Uh, take Gaga out of there, she's definitely more than vocally talented enough to get by strictly on singing.

I wasn't criticizing her. Her performances still slay and we all know she can sing but she does rely heavily on backing tracks sometimes particuarly for upbeat songs so she can deliver incredible dance routines. There's no shame in it.

That was okay. But she wouldn't have a career out of that.

If you can make the show amazingly spectacular, that's when it's acceptable.

If you aren't giving money to those artists that lip-synch then why do you care?

People know what they're going to see when they attend a show, fully live, mostly live, partially live or totally mimed, as long as they enjoy it...

That one Australian report was full of lies on Britney. And her career did not "end" in the UK after lip-syncing on X Factor. The massive European grosses seven months after that performance beg to differ. The ONLY reason she bombs there is because she's lazy and doesn't do any kind of public publicity there, and rightfully so they refuse to buy her records if she won't come give them some attention.

Otherwise, I agree lip-syncing is only necessary in something spectacular/demanding. Britney doing it now isn't a good look, especially for someone who is considered an icon and could only better herself if she were to attempt some live vocals. That or go back to mind blowing performances. It's very amateur.

EDIT: But some folk need not be delusional about their extravagant acts not submitting to faux vocals. Really. Getting angry and attacking Britney only makes you look dense because she's known for this. Save the anger and just accept it's not just one person doing it.

Pretty much all of today's pop stars wouldn't be where there are strictly on musical talent alone regardless of their level of talent, but Gaga would definitely still have a career as a respected singer .
