still, how would they go about calulating votes if that WERE the case. The show still isn't live 100% of the time! In fact, wouldn't it be more complicated to calculate votes on a show were 50% of it were taped, and 50% of it were live? IDK, just some food for thought!

I've said my piece on this issue already... the fact that you guys think Rihanna isn't played on BET because her music is too pop is EXTREMELY laughable. Rihanna's music is no more poppier than Christina Aguilera's (who appeared on 106), Beyonce's (CIL isn't EXACTLY hardcore hip hop and r&b), Destiny's Child (LMB is their poppiest song to date), and especially Nsync! There has to be something going on behind the scenes that would explain why Rihanna isn't getting "enough" airplay on the station.

well, I guess it just depends on what market a label wants to appeal their music to. If it's the urban market, the'll want the video to be on 106. If they want to appeal to more of a mainstream poppy market, then they'll want the video to be played on TRL. Hence, that would be why a record label would pay for a TRL position for an artist, but not a BET position for that same artist. It's all about marketing!
I think that a lot, if not all, these types of shows are somewhat rigged. Definately not every one of the viewers votes are tallied. I just think that actual votes don't play a major role in where a video is placed on the countdown
