Digital album sales typically don't account for a huge amount of the total, with a few exceptions (usually hip-hop artists). Basically:
1. If the tracks are being counted separately, the pre-orders probably wouldn't provide the huge a boost.
Or
2. If the tracks are NOT being counted separately, it's unlikely that pre-orders are being scanned at a high enough volume to significantly impact the digital singles total.
In short, the performance of the album is largely irrelevant as far as the single is concerned.
