Poll: How do you feel about Toddlers & Tiaras/Pageants?

Ok so I already know people are going to tell me I take it too seriously or that I'm a prude or whatever but I feel quite strongly about this so I'm going to do it anyways.

I think that the world of child beauty pageantry is horrific. It is teaching small children that to be beautiful they must have fake tan, perfect teeth, dress like a 16 year old discovering that more skin means more attention and wear hair pieces. It over-sexualises children, 4 year olds should not be wearing bikinis and walking up and down a runway to be judged my adults, it is disgusting and wrong. I think it is taking advantage of these children and how people find it entertaining and don't see how horrible it is just baffles me. It honestly makes me sick to my stomach. Just imagine the perverts sitting around watching that show...

I just think it's extremely wrong to make a child look like a barbie doll. It's like taking their innocence at a very yong age.

Every child deserves to enjoy each step in life as it is, no need to expose them to such things.

To me those GIFs pretty much ARE the industry. They are from the show, they show the girls dressed up like this...same thing.

You do realise the categories for these pageants start at like 6-12 month olds right? I seriously doubt they want to be in pageants.

Not to mention the tons of footage the show gets of the girls crying because they don't want to do it and the utter devastation of the kids that lose.

That show is disturbing. I happened to watch a glimpse of the show and these little girls look like hookers. It's highly inappropriate. It usually has to do with what the parents want to accomplish, yet can't, so they find their child to fill in the void. They are children who are doing grown up things like wearing fake nails, fake tan, wearing bikinis and shaking their little bodies to show it off. It disgusts me. The parents annoy me. Anyone who would make a five year old girl wear that much makeup and prance around a stage half naked obviously has some serious issues.

Everytime I think about child beauty pageants, I think of Jonbenet Ramsey and look what happened to her.
