It does MATTER, I'm simply saying it's biased and people are pressed based on SNL, which is unfair.
Seriously, what place does "The hype surrounding this album is coming from people who obviously are trying hard to be different" have in something that should be taken seriously?
The score would have been very different had it not been for the SNL performances, and we all know that. Most of these reviews are biased.
That's just it though.
As far as the general population of America is concerned, that is the first time they ever heard or saw Lana Del Rey.
They don't care about doing research on the internet to see if she's any better, all they needed was that one performance to deem that she's terrible.
The SNL performance simply left a bad taste in the mouth of critics and people. It's hard for them to go on trying to like her music when the first impression of her they got was that she was a horrible live singer.
So obviously, they're not going to like the music after having seen that.
I never saw many of the reviews, I really don't care, the album's great to me and that's all that matters. Didn't some of them talk more about her rich father or her SNL performance rather than the album anyways? I agree 200% with what Bea posted in the last page, well said
These reviewers are just like me when I first found out about Lana. I thought her music was utter crap. The way some of her songs started out and her SNL performances made me not interested as well. But then, I listened to her album straight throughout and it's amazing, tbh. I will be bookmarking some of these reviews because if it happens that any of them start to kiss ass by the end of this year, I'll be booking.

Correct. Critical acclaim is a great bonus, but not a necessity to enjoy an album. You're exposing nothing. A 90 doesn't make metacritic more accurate, it would just make it closer to my own personal review of the album.

That never happens to any pop singer. And it wasn't even unfairly - her performance was bad.
