I don't like that dirty G word being thrown around. The song has elements that are in keeping with current music trends, but I sense a lot of 60s influence that I think lends this tune some character. Ultimately, I don't think it's possible to say "Well, that sounds like everything else on the radio right now. How generic!" Where is the mandatory four-on-the-floor stomp? Where is that choir of reverb-laden synths to usher in the chorus? Where is the Nicki Minaj guest verse... oh, wait... yeah, I guess that's the most generic element of the track - the thing that ties this to everything else released in the past couple of years.
