Carly Rae Jepsen claims first #1 on the Canadian Hot 100
Quote:
Three weeks after reaching No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart, Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” (Universal) jumps to the top of the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 chart. The song remains at No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart with 23,000 downloads sold, up 9% over last week, and moves 13-11 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart with an 18% increase in audience. It is just the fourth song from a Canadian artist to reach No. 1 in the close to five year history of the Canadian Hot 100, following Avril Lavigne’s “Girlfriend,” Nikki Yanofsky’s “I Believe,” and Young Artists For Haiti’s “Wavin’ Flag,” which was the last to top the chart, back in March 2010.
Good for her, I was just thinking there was no way it was going to happen because radio has their thumbs up their asses on this one even though it's been outselling the competition 3-1 for the past couple of weeks. Luckily Cancon forced their hands just enough to finally allow this to happen.
