I actually loved the meat dress, I just hated that she tried to give it this deep meaning on Ellen when it was obvious (at least to me) that she wore it to create controversy and have an iconic moment. I remember her saying something along the lines of: were not the meat on our bones...or some **** like that.

I think it was supposed to symbolize how we're humans, not hunks of meat, and then she somehow connected it to DADT.

She may or may not have believed this explanation herself, but I believe she had more than one motive which included (as you said) to have an iconic moment and stir buzz.

oh yeah, I forgot she brought a few discharged soldiers with her to the VMAs.

I guess I can see the Alejandro video a bit, but not the others. I don't like her recent videos, but that's not because they're controversial.

They're not controversial. But they're WAY too exaggerated. Like it's all over the place sometimes it's like "what the hell?" That's what I thought when i saw the Marry The Night video, also the intro for Born this way.....

It takes a quite a lot for a music video to shock/offend me these days, so no, I don't think Gaga's videos are controversial. Overdone, contrived messes as of late, yes. But nothing really worth losing your lid over.

I don't think they cause controversy so much as drama—as in, everyone calls them bad, and then Gaga stans get really upset.

I mean the only "controversy" I hear from her music videos are "LADY GAGA COPIES MADONNA AGAIN"

About the meat dress... ofc I agree it was attention whoring at best. Her Ellen explanation had everyone like mm-hmm, yet I heard a better thought out excuse for it, it being how the meat was supposed to be the prime rib of america = equality, quoting herself from a speech she did.
