So, through YouTube I have rediscovered many great songs that were hits in Europe but not in the US, and I want to share some of them with you I will try to post a video a day!

First up it's... Alizée - Moi... Lolita

This was a huge hit in 2000, by the then 15-year-old Alizée. Though completely sung in French, the catchy chorus and smooth vocals made it appeal to music lovers across Europe, while the video of an underage Alizée dancing in a disco and ****ting it up also contributed to the song's success.

After this single she's had a few minor hits, but most consider her a one hit wonder. She married in 2003 and had a daughter in 2005; her career is currently on hiatus.

Faithless - Insomnia

I am not sure how much exposure this song had elsewhere in the world, but it was quite a big hit in Europe back in 1996. Maxi Jazz's hypnotic vocals combined with a killer dance beat would quickly become Faithless' trademark sound, good for a string of hits the past decade, such as "God Is A DJ" and "We Come One". But "Insomnia" will always be their signature song; it was recently voted the #1 dance song of all time by Dutch voters.

Not only one of the best songs of 1997 (yeah we got it a little late here), but one of the best songs of all time! It did ok here, i think it peaked at #3 on MTV's top 20, radio played it quite often and it still gets played at clubs from time to time. Long story short: A true classic.

Sugababes - Overload

The Sugababes are a modern tragedy. When they came out in 2000 with the single "Overload", they were an edgy girl group that were really trying to do something different. The original line up of Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan was obviously the best. When Siobhan was replaced by Heidi about a year later, they continued strongly, though I don't think Heidi could ever really fill the void that Siobhan left behind. The public thought otherwise; they got more and more popular. This year though the Sugababes were effectively ended when Mutya left and Amelle took her place. This new line up (Keisha, Amelle, Heidi) has little star potential and my guess is that they will soon be forgotten.

That song 'Overload' is their best. All the other songs sound just the same. I really despise them, to be honest.

Toy Box - Tarzan And Jane

When Aqua was popular, there was another Danish pop act called Toy Box who basically copied their sound. They had a couple of hits as well, of which "Tarzan And Jane" is the most memorable. A typical 90s Europop song, this will give you a good impression of the kind of music that could top the chart (and probably can still top the chart) in Europe.

Sarah Connor - From Sarah With Love

Sarah Connor is a popular German singer, who's had a bunch of hits the past couple of years. Though she's probably best known in the US for her song "Bounce", ironically that didn't do very well in Europe. It was this power ballad, "From Sarah With Love", that topped many European charts and shot her to stardom.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Murder On The Dancefloor

This was a gigantic hit in Europe but did nothing overseas. Sophie is a great British pop singer with a very classy voice. Her new album should come out this year.

Toybox! were they really serious? They're just a copy-paste Aqua and the song/video is a total rip off "Dr. Jones" . That was so lame and cheap. They should have been sued for making it so obvious.lol

- Sophie<33333 I really want her to hit the U.S and become more popular. MOADF was a classic and the video is one of my all time favourite.

I've always thought of Sophie Ellis-Bextor as Norah Jones meets dance. It does nothing for me though. Actually, the only one that I've enjoyed so far is Sarah Connor, as that was easily one of the Sugababes' worst songs.
