As you probably know, recently there was a debate about personal countdowns vs. request-only countdowns in the Your Top Ten forum. This thread explains the decision made about the forum and the reasons behind the decision.

Your Top Ten is first and foremost a personal countdowns forum, and has been since its inception in 2001. So, from now on, active personal countdowns will always remain at the top of the forum page. Request-only countdowns, inactive countdowns, and countdown statistics threads will always remain in the lower half of the forum page.

This separation encourages people to continue making personal countdowns. It's great to have real people posting their real music taste, not a clone of TRL and not solely determined by the songs that other people vote for. At the same time, if you do have a request-only countdown or other non-personal countdown, you can continue it as long as you want and it'll go untouched, but it will remain below all of the personal countdowns.

So, what's considered an active personal countdown? That's subjective, and the definition will probably evolve. Right now, I'm saying it's any countdown that's ultimately guided by your taste in music and that you keep active at least every couple of weeks.

If you stop updating your personal countdown, it'll be dropped from the top section. Similarly, if you start a new personal countdown or restart an old one, you can apply for it to be listed in the top section, and it will be. I don't know how I'll handle the applications just yet but I'll figure out something.

my other countdown "The Ultimate Countdown" is a personaly countdown, but you can still vote for it

lol, I don't get this either way. Yes, everybody <333 their personal countdowns, but in all honesty, (don't lie) there are many more checking the request countdowns than the personal ones. Why do you think people got upset that their countdowns were at the bottom of the page? It's because nobody looked at them. Anyways, for everybody's sake, I suppose this is a fit choice, although a subforum would be much nicer.

Sub-Forum is not a good idea. I'm sure TC's decision is good enough for everybody. If you still rant about this, then I don't know what to say man.

I am not particularly ranting about this, as I am not offended by it or anything, but I have no idea wut this solves? It just seems that those who wanted this just brought this up so that their countdowns would be at the top of the page, but I have no idea why that matters? Why would a sub forum be a bad idea? Doesn't hurt anything to me.

I don't think that a sub-forum is necessary - splitting the page works just fine...

but yeah the name of it is "YOUR top ten" not "requested top ten" so yeah... i see why the personal countdowns are on top.

Well some hated how the many clones would push back the personal countdowns since yeah the personal countdowns were more original. However, due to much of page one being clones and them being voted on the most, the original countdowns would end up less likely to be viewed since they'd be pushed back. It made no sense seeing the original purpose of the forum was to have a personal countdown.

I think this works better than a sub-forum and only other thing I'd consider is the whole one request-only countdown idea.

Actually, TC thought up the idea himself, mister. I have already said why sub-forums would be a bad idea in other threads.

And besides, i'm done arguing about this. I'll just say that TC did something that gives personal countdowns more respect AND lets the clones keep their countdowns at the same time and I absolutely admire that.

I think it's a great decision....but why are the personal countdowns first?
