19-year-old Selena Gomez is the latest starlette to grace the cover of the controversial U.S. women's magazine Cosmopolitan. The singer, actress and girlfriend of Justin Bieber provocatively posed for the upcoming March 2012 issue of the publication, and has raised some eyebrows in the process.
In the outtakes above and on the approved cover that was leaked earlier this month, the Disney teen queen is seen posing in cleavage-baring outfits next to bold-faced headlines including "50 Sex Tips" and "Your Orgasm Guaranteed." Inside the magazine, the caption "Yup, she looks all grown up to us" runs alongside another photo of Sel, perhaps reflecting what the singer/actress is trying to convey to her new fan base.
However, a good number of Selena's loyal fans are still Disney Channel age, leading many to take issue with the star's choice to pose in such a racy publication.
One person leading the protest against Gomez' Cosmo cover is model and actress Nicole Weider. "The tips in Cosmo are completely graphic and explicit -- things that are only meant for a **** movie. It encourages girls to have sex at an early age and to sleep around and have casual sex with multiple partners," Weider tells OneNewsNow. Nicole is so upset by Selena's risque photos that she's started an online petition demanding that the mag be sold in non-transparent wrappers and only to customers 18 years old and over.
The questionable Selena spread follows controversy surrounding fellow actress Dakota Fanning's cover for the publication's latest issue. The 17-year old came under fire for posing alongside similar sexually explicit headlines like, "His Best Sex Ever" and "Too Naughty to Say Here!"
I find the second photo racier because even with the dress, it's like she's opening her ***** up for everyone.
Anyway, the magazine is the pits, but a lot of females do these covers. That model/actress unknown can sit down. Selena's not the one writing about the sex positions and orgasm tips.
This whole thing is really stupid. How are the pictures are "too racy" and she's not showing too much cleavage. She's 19 going on 20.
And the headlines around her picture is not in her control. She cannot tell them what to include in their magazine. Not to mention the headlines are just sex-related. She's 19 not 9. She knows what sex is and where babies come from!
Nicole can have a seat with that dumb ass petition she made.
People need to lay off Selena and Miley! They are both 19 years old and growing up into beautiful women. They should not be compared to Disney anymore!!!
I don't even like Selena and even I am defending her. these pics are fine. She is 19 she can do what she wants. Just don't buy your little 8 year olds the magazine. problem solved.
Also I feel like Dakota and Selena decided to do these covers because it's a big time magazine. It doesnt necessarily mean they like whats in the magazine. It's just more publicity for them by an older audience.
Well, it's probably the clothes, but it's one of the first times she doesn't look like a little girl to me, definately more mature. She looks fine, people make too much of a deal out of everything.
What's racy about this? She's 19 for ****'s sake.
