Adele, Britney, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Katy Perry were 5 different forms of pop in 2011. Add Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson to that list and you have 7 different styles of pop. to say that people were only interested in Adele is seriously ****ed up. Britney took dance pop into a more techno/dubstep area. GaGa was gothic dance. Beyonce was R&B themed. Katy Perry was pop rock and Dr. Luke pop combined. Avril was pop rock dance sprinkled on top of in depth guitar and piano songs. Kelly Clarkson had pop rock with a taste of electric pop. Rihanna self-produced part of her album and so it had some caribbean/urban feel.
Ya'll do know the general public doesn't see them as competition of one another like us right?. The fact that our faves sales were low doesn't have **** to do with Adele
But it's certainly given the perception (mostly to people who frequent sites like this - not the general public) that the other albums flopped miserably.
