I think that there is a lot more focus on image these days. It is like if you are pretty, it doesn't if you can't sing.

Well it's optional. I choose my faves by their vocal talents not their looks tbh (Gerisus is the exception lol)

It is but if the music sucks then it doesn't matter how well you sing.

If you can't sing so well but the music fits the voice then that person can be more successful

Also better vocal talent =/= better artist

Vocal talent has never been the most important thing, it's nothing new.

But I agree it matters less now, with the advances in technology.

Yeah you're right ! Look at Kesha and Katy Pery. They can't sing but they find some generic pop songs that fit their voices.

I prefer my favs to have vocal chops (see: my sig), but the girls on the top of the charts show that this is not important to the casual music listening public.

And despite what the haters say they are rich and successful. Which is all that matters to them.

It's not important. All you need is being creative and having the ablility to keep ppl interested. Those things are crucial to any vocal talent. Real success is not about sitting on your ass and expecting ppl to worship you beacuse you have a good voice.

I think you'd have to have some vocal talent to start off and help propel you to success, but if your voice deteriorates over time (long period or short period), people are likely to look the other way and focus more on your performances and imge.

To me it is important, but for some it isn't. If someone can't sing, I refuse to listen to their music.

It's an industry. How you make it to the top doesn't matter, as long as you make it there at all. Good or bad, that's how it is.

It's very important to me. It gives tracks more meaning and substance.
