I agree with LBOE about the Adele stans. I was really active in her threads when the 21 era started because she's been successful here since '08. I don't remember a certain someone stanning for her until she blew up in the US.

You know what I just realized, the first few pages of her album thread are people cracking "Artist - Album Title' jokes

I feel the majority are actual fans, but there are some who seem to like her just because she's the new 'it' thing at the moment. They will get bored within 3 months though, and only true fans will remain.

also, the amount of time you have liked someone doesn't matter: there will be casual listeners who heard her six months ago and thought 'oh, she's gonna be big' so they made sure they put it out there they liked her, so that when she did get big, they could go 'oh i was here before the hype' Then there will be people who heard her a month ago but completely love her music, and are true fans

But I do agree that it did seem odd when ATRL suddenly (after the Born To Die video) turned into this place where it basically sounded like Lana was the second coming.

For myself, I only listened to the 4 songs she released to iTunes, refrained from listening to any demos to sort of not to buy into the hype too much because I honestly couldn't care less about her unfinished work. I wanted a complete album, nothing less. I watched her appearances on Jonathan Ross and Saturday Night Live and that was basically it, not to mention the latter sucked big time. Still, I couldn't judge her or call myself a fan of anything other than a few songs, after only having that to base it on. I waited until I heard the album and what I heard was a great debut that perhaps needed a little more variety. Nevertheless, I can very much say it's a great body of work, even though I dislike 5 of the songs .

Sometimes that annoys me, too. But with a successful era like Adele's it's impossible not to gain more fans along the way. So it makes no sense when I get mad at people for only caring about Adele now that she's on top of the world. My "where were you when we were celebrating Adele's first week sales in the Netherlands? A MONTH - and probably even more - before you had a copy in your hand!" breakdowns are pretty embarrassing. Good thing I only have them for myself.

Maybe the mods should start editing links to pre order into the first posts of every anti Lana/Lana stans thread.

Fact is, she's going to blow up in 2012 and there will probably be millions of people getting into her who may not even know of her existence now. Are they bandwagon jumpers? Of course they aren't. They decided they like her stuff but don't spend their whole ****ing life on the internet looking for the next big thing before anyone else so they can avoid being called a bandwagoner, lol.

Why the **** does it matter if you weren't a fan from the start? I only started listening to her in late 2011 and that doesn't make me a 'hop on' she's simply gaining fans as she gets more recognition.

I'm sorry, but isn't this the whole point of being hyped? To gain more fans? It would be extremely worrying for Interscope to pour all that money into her and only her first five fans ever were the ones checking for her as of now.

Yes, some people will only show interest in her solely because everyone else is starting to do it, but you really can't have a way of knowing the difference between those people and those who honestly didn't know about her until she blew up. And you also have to consider the fact that it's entirely possible to not like an artist the first time you discover them, and it isn't until much later, when everyone already is into them that you realize what you might have been missing out on.

Wow. She's amazing. Just heard her album. So why the heck did she choose Video Games as a single tho? That ***** boring as **** and there's so much better songs in the album. I'm not yet a fan tho. She still gots to prove some things.
